Privacy policy
Last updated: 20 October 2026
Binary Social is a service of The Binary Mechanics, in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your choices. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our privacy officer is accountable for it and can be reached through our contact page.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email, phone, business name and address.
- Business details you give us: what you do, your customers, logo, colours, photos, videos and links.
- The posts we make for you, your approvals and change requests.
- Social account connections: access tokens for the pages and accounts you connect, and statistics about the posts we publish.
- Billing: invoices and payments. Card numbers are handled by our payment provider (Stripe) and never stored by us.
- Website visits: pages viewed and basic device information, using cookies (see our cookie notice).
Why we use it
Only to make, schedule and publish your posts, show you results, bill you, answer you and keep the service secure. We never sell your information and do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
- AI providers that make text, pictures and video for your posts: fal.ai, and the writing AI chosen for your account (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google). They receive your post idea, business details and reference photos for that purpose only.
- The social networks you connect (Facebook and Instagram), only to publish and read statistics for your own accounts.
- Stripe for payments, and our cloud hosting provider.
Some of these providers process data outside Canada, for example in the United States, where it may be accessed under local law.
Social network data
We use each network's official API only for the permissions you approve when you connect. We do not share your social data with others or use it for ads. You can disconnect a network at any time in your account, and remove our app in that network's settings.
How long we keep it
While your account is open, and 90 days after you cancel; then we delete it. Invoices are kept for 7 years because tax law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your information. To delete your data, follow our data deletion instructions or email us. We reply within 30 days.
Security
Connection tokens and AI keys are stored encrypted and only our system can read them. Access to client data is limited to the staff who run your account.
Changes and complaints
We will email you before any important change. If you are not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
